APC Expands Agricultural Training Initiatives in Africa
The Arab Potash Company (APC), one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of potash fertilizers and a key supplier to global agricultural markets, continues to expand its engagement in East and Southern Africa. Through its long-standing commitment to knowledge transfer and sustainable agriculture, APC actively supports farmers, researchers, and the broader agricultural and fertiliser sectors by promoting modern fertilisation practices and improving soil productivity and crop yields. In line with this commitment, APC will conduct a training workshop in Kenya from 21–26 June under the title “Soil Health and Integrated Fertilizer Management.” This initiative is part of APC’s ongoing efforts to enhance soil productivity, optimise fertiliser use, and support sustainable agricultural development in the region

Zambia workshop July 15-19, 2025
Since 2018, APC has successfully delivered specialised training programmes across several African countries, including Tanzania (2018), Uganda (2019), Mozambique (2023), Malawi (2024), and Zambia (2025). These programmes are organised in collaboration with the African Fertilizer Volunteer Program (AFVP), a joint initiative between the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) and the International Fertilizer Association (IFA). This partnership reflects APC’s broader strategy to strengthen agricultural capabilities across the continent.
Each workshop typically engages between 70 and 100 in-person participants, in addition to a larger number of online attendees. Participants include farmers, agricultural extension officers, fertiliser distributors, and key stakeholders contributing to agricultural productivity and food security.
The technical sessions are led by Professor Munir Rusan, APC’s Agricultural Advisor, focusing on soil fertility, crop nutrition, and the role of fertilisers in improving yields and farm economics. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, including developing site-specific fertiliser programmes and integrated nutrient management.

Malawi workshop Oct 19–26, 2024
A key component of the programme is the 4R Nutrient Stewardship framework—right source, right rate, right time, and right place—which supports efficient fertiliser use, enhances crop productivity, and promotes environmentally responsible practices.
These initiatives are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to sustainable agriculture, food security, and responsible resource management.
Participants and AFAP representatives have consistently expressed strong appreciation for APC’s support, highlighting the practical value of these training programmes in improving fertiliser application and agricultural outcomes.
Eng. Shehadeh Abu Hdaib, Chairman of APC’s Board of Directors, reaffirmed APC’s commitment to supporting the development of the agricultural and fertiliser sectors in Africa, emphasizing the importance of long-term partnerships and knowledge transfer.
Dr. Maen Nsour, President and CEO of APC, highlighted that APC’s engagement in Africa is part of a broader strategy to build sustainable demand through education and market development. He noted that strengthening farmers’ understanding of fertiliser use is essential for unlocking the region’s agricultural potential and ensuring long-term market growth, positioning APC as a reliable partner in developing emerging agricultural markets.

Mozambique workshop Sep 12-17,2022
Mr. Rashid Lubani, Vice President for Marketing and Sales, emphasised that APC’s approach in Africa focuses on building integrated value chains by working closely with distributors, blenders, and end-users. He noted that these training programmes support the improvement of product awareness and application practices, ultimately contributing to the expansion of fertiliser consumption and strengthening APC’s commercial presence in the region.
