Jordan Bromine Company (JBC)
JBC was established in 1999 for the purpose of producing bromine and associated derivatives such as tetra brome, sodium bromide, calcium bromide, hydrogen bromide, and potassium hydroxide. The company’s products are marketed through Albemarle Corporation, USA, which alongside APC shares 50% ownership of JBC. The company’s capital stands at JOD 30 million, with a JOD 24.7 million premium issue distributed equally between the two shareholders.
The company completed extensive expansion of its plant in the second quarter of 2013 at an investment of JD 120 million. Work was completed on the first phase in the second quarter of 2013, which raised the production capacity to more than 200,000 tons annually, raising annual exports to more than US $ 200 million.
